Construction of the state-of-the-art aquafeed factory in Uganda
The construction of the first de Heus dedicated aquafeed plant in Uganda has started. At its maximum output, it generates around 50,000 metric tons of fish feed annually, catering to the East African market. The state-of-the-art factory should be operational towards the first half of 2025.

Meet Aart Kool
Aart Kool holds the position of International Technical Project Manager, overseeing the planning and construction phases of the upcoming De Heus aqua feed factory near Jinja.
August 2024: Dosing silos
The installation of hoppers for the dosing silos is in full progress. The silo raft foundation has already been laid.

January 2024 II: Site progress update
The 2nd contractor has started with the boundary wall around our plot and the internal road and drainage on the site. We also build a preliminary office for the use during construction.
January 2024 I: Planting African grass for erosion control
We planted grass on the embarkments. An African grass type for slopes which create a very firm root structure to avoid soil erosion during rain.
October 2023: First groundwork
Initiating the project's groundwork sets the stage for constructing its foundation. The access road is being reinforced and upgraded, with drainage channels in front. In the background, you can see the truck parking area.
June 2023: Groundbreaking ceremony
In the presence of many honoured guests, we celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony. This event signals the beginning of an exciting venture into advancing aquafeed production in the region by placing the first stones of the plant.
